CERTIFIED IN-SHOP RESTORATION FACILITY

Workshop In-Shop DPF Restoration & Flow Certification

The definitive technical standard for heavy-duty aftertreatment recovery. Located at 142 Stillwater Street in Kitchener, Ontario, our workshop removes up to 98% of incombustible ash and baked soot utilizing pneumatic reverse-pulse air-knives, ultrasonic fluidics, and precision flow testing benches.

1. What Workshop DPF Restoration Involves

Unlike surface flushes or chemical additives poured into the fuel tank, workshop restoration requires unbolting the ceramic filter canister from the vehicle chassis. By dismounting the core, our technicians gain direct access to both the inlet and outlet cell faces.

Our multi-stage restoration cycle combines:

Bi-Directional Pulse

High-volume pneumatic pulses shatter compacted ash plugs deep inside narrow channels.

Ultrasonic Recovery

Micro-cavitation bubbles dissolve stubborn carbon and crystallized hydrocarbon residues.

Flow Telemetry

Calibrated air-bench testing certifies CFM flow backpressure against OEM specs.

2. Who Is This Service Intended For?

  • Heavy Commercial Trucks (Class 7 & 8): Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, Volvo, International, and Western Star highway tractors with 200,000+ km of ash accumulation.
  • Commercial Repair Shops & Fleet Garages: Independent mechanics throughout Southwestern Ontario who remove filters from customer vehicles and bring them to JTECH DPF for certified restoration.
  • Severe Contamination Cases: Filters with upstream engine oil or coolant contamination requiring controlled thermal kiln baking.

3. The JTECH Precision Restoration Process

1

Intake & Internal Borescope Inspection

We visually inspect cell integrity, check for melted core hotspots, test substrate pin retention, and verify that the outer canister mantle is undamaged.

2

Baseline Differential Airflow Test

The filter is mounted to our digital test bench. We measure incoming airflow resistance in inches of water column (in-H2O) to record pre-service backpressure.

3

Multi-Stage De-Ashing & Ultrasonic Bake-Off

Computerized bi-directional pulse sweeps drive compacted ash plugs out of the inlet channels, followed by ultrasonic or thermal cycles if oil saturation is present.

4

Final Flow Certification & Release

A secondary flow bench test validates that airflow matches OEM cleanliness standards. Every unit is returned with documented test verification.

4. What to Prepare Before Dropping Off Your Filter

  • Note Flow Orientation: Mark exhaust flow direction (arrow towards outlet) or take a quick photo of the canister mounting orientation before removal.
  • Protect Sensor Bungs: Unscrew exhaust temperature sensors and pressure fittings carefully to avoid thread galling.
  • Supply Truck Data: Make, model, engine (e.g. Cummins ISX/X15, Detroit DD13/DD15, PACCAR MX-13), and reason for service.

5. Transparent Limitations: When Replacement Is Mandatory

Cleaning cannot rebuild shattered ceramic or un-fuse melted silicon carbide. If a filter has suffered uncontrolled thermal runaway (temperatures exceeding 1,100°C), internal cell walls collapse and fuse into solid glass. If our initial inspection reveals cracked monoliths or structural core separation, we will immediately inform you and present cost-effective replacement core options rather than charging you for an ineffective cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions About Workshop Cleaning

What is the standard turnaround time for workshop cleaning?

Standard pneumatic and ultrasonic restoration is completed in 3 to 6 hours. Filters requiring overnight thermal kiln baking for heavy oil contamination are completed within 24 hours.

Do you provide flow test verification reports?

Yes. Every filter cleaned at our Kitchener facility includes certified pre- and post-cleaning differential pressure readings documenting flow recovery.

Can I courier or drop off loose filters directly?

Yes. Fleet managers and independent repair shops across Southwestern Ontario routinely ship or drop off DPF and DOC canisters directly at 142 Stillwater St, Kitchener.
